Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in New York and help us build scalable, robust infrastructure for our AI-native platform. You'll own critical backend systems, mentor junior engineers, and shape our technical direction as we grow. This is a hands-on role where you'll write code daily while also influencing architecture and engineering culture.

• Design and implement backend services in Python, with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
• Architect and manage PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, optimization, and scaling strategies
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure, leveraging services like EC2, RDS, Lambda, and S3 to support our platform
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and establish best practices across the backend team
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Participate in on-call rotation and own the reliability of critical systems

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience and deep expertise in Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS. You're comfortable making architectural decisions, writing clean code, and explaining your reasoning. You thrive in fast-moving environments where you can wear multiple hats—shipping features, fixing production issues, and helping teammates grow. You care about code quality and system reliability, but you're pragmatic about tradeoffs. A background in startups or high-growth companies is a plus; you understand how to move quickly without sacrificing fundamentals.

We move fast, iterate intentionally, and believe in building things that matter. We're based in NYC and value in-person collaboration, especially as we scale the engineering team.
